But As For Me...

But as for me, I am filled with power—with the Spirit of the LORD. I am filled with justice and strength to boldly declare Israel’s sin and rebellion. [Micah 3.8]

Micah spoke quite boldly on behalf of the LORD. It is obvious in the passage above that Micah was convinced of the anointing upon himself to address the sin and rebellion of God's people.

Would God speak such through men of conviction today? We should all hope so!

Let's look at Jesus:

Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” [Matthew 9.35-38]

And, what is the message of the Good News? Let's also look to Jesus for that answer:

And he said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ [Luke 24.46-47]

The Good News message is simply this: there is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.

All who would DO the work of the Good News will necessarily point out two things: sin and forgiveness. The transformation from sin to forgiveness is accomplished through one thing: repentance (it might be argued here that faith is necessary also, but it should be understood that true repentance IS faith).

Where today are the men full of the Spirit of the LORD who will declare the Good News message of repentance and forgiveness?

Father, send more workers into Your fields! Send me!
