No Buddy Passes To God

But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the LORD my God that have cost me nothing.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen. [2 Samuel 24.24]

What was David really saying here?

I am going to make an attempt to understand it better here...

When it comes to God, it is not enough that we relate to Him on the sacrifice or devotion of others.

My individual relationship with God is mine and mine alone. My relationship with God is not good because my spouse, preacher, Christian leader, or anyone else for that matter has an intimate relationship with Him. My relationship with God will only be good when I am the one actively engaged in whatever sacrifice or devotion that is required to have that relationship.

Every commission of the Bible - particularly the New Testament - is MINE to obey and do.

This makes for interesting thought! No buddy passes to God.

Father, may my relationship with You be just that: a relationship between You and me.
