Faithlessness

So Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD. He failed to obey the LORD’s command, and he even consulted a medium instead of asking the LORD for guidance. So the LORD killed him and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse. [1 Chronicles 10.13-14]

There is something to be said for being found faithful to God!

But this goes deeper... Saul consulted a medium instead of asking God for direction. In other words, Saul place his trust, his faith, in something besides God. And, the interesting thing is, Saul's ill-placed faith involved on of the Old Testament's most famous prophets, Samuel!

My conclusion from this narrative is that no amount of religious ceremony or treatment will make faithlessness okay!

Father, help me to be found faithful.
