Has What We Have Been Doing Worked?

Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. [Proverbs 30.5]

This is an interesting combination of ideas...

God is a shield to those who come to Him for protection.

In logical contrast, it might be said that God is not a shield to those who do not come to Him for protection.

We can further deduce then that if God's "shield benefit" is not present on a person's life, then that person has not come to Him for protection.

How can we say this? Simply because "Every word of God proves true. "

Now it makes perfect sense why these two ideas are combined!

Now, how to deal with our evident "unshielded" situation (that we have not come to God for protection) is another story... It starts with the conclusion that what we have been doing (in coming to God) hasn't worked!

Ouch! 

But who wants to admit that what we have been doing hasn't worked? It matters not because every word of God proves true in the absence or presence of "shielding" upon our lives! We are each faced with the necessity to realize that if we are not shielded then we have not come to God no matter how religious we think we are or have been!

The solution to this problem is simple: if how we have been "coming to God" hasn't resulted in our being shielded, then our methods of coming to God have not worked and must therefore be altered or replaced if we are to enjoy God's shielding of our lives in the future.

The first step is to admit that what we have been doing hasn't worked. Sadly, only a humble few will ever come to this conclusion. The rest will proudly defend their failed methods of coming to God thus ignoring the simple statement that every word of God proves true.

Father, help me and Your follwers everywhere to humbly admit failure in effectively coming to You when it is obvious we are not shielded.
