Any Person's Battle Is Every Christian's Battle

When the LORD has given security to the rest of the Israelites, as he has to you, and when they occupy the land the LORD your God is giving them across the Jordan River, then you may all return here to the land I have given you.’ [Deuteronomy 3.20]

Along the lines of There is Conflict! from a couple days ago, there is a spiritual principle we might learn from this verse in Deuteronomy today.

Because God loves the world (as Jesus made clear), any person's battle is every Christian's battle. in other words, as long as we live on earth (and Jesus has not returned), we are expected to combat the enemy of man's soul, Satan.

Overwhelming? Of course it is! But we do not fight in our own power, but in and with the power of God. We have His Word and His Spirit and we know His will - that:

"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." [2 Peter 3.9]

So, ours is the message Jesus said it is:

It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’ [Luke 24.47]

Father, help us to take every soul's plight as our own so that we might be found loving the world as You love the world.
