Exodus 21.
There are some passages in the Bible that simply do not get much "airtime." Exodus 21 perhaps qualifies to be at the top of that list.
Modern culture and society have 'evolved' to the point that they have elevated themselves above God's Word.
An objective perusal of Exodus 21 reveals a great deal of the workings of God's social justice program. In effort to proclaim truth without evoking emotional rant, suffice it to be carefully said here that today's social justice programs are man's failed, shortsightedly emotional attempt at replacing God's method of social justice found in Exodus 21.
Instead of humbly submitting to God's Word - God's Way of dealing with social justice issues, humanity, in its godless knowledge, has removed the 'human accountability element' from social justice and instead replaced it with government-run programs that have proven themselves ineffective, inefficient, highly unaccountable, and therefore rife with misuse/abuse at best.
It is a complex task to determine how our overwhelmingly unsuccessful social justice system became so complicated and convoluted. Understanding begins however in acknowledging that government-run social justice programs only meet a temporal need to satisfy the emotional feeling (guilt?) of the implementer without addressing the long-term core problems of those actually in trouble or in need. Consequently, government social justice programs have yielded perpetual implementation of laws and programs based solely upon changing popular human emotion effectively ignoring the clear directives of God's Word for dealing with human issues at their core for long-term remedy (Exodus 21).
Historically, as early as the second generation of man, the Bible teaches that humans are individually responsible to be their "brother's keeper." Social justice is to be taught and demonstrated as the personal responsibility of every human being. The Bible's teaching on this is in stark contrast to the impersonal government-run social justice systems we see today. The Bible's methods for dealing with poverty, financial mismanagement, and crime look little to nothing like the methods of our present culture. This is merely statement of a fact.
Social justice is something our loving God is, and would naturally be, the greatest proponent of. He should therefore be the final authority on social justice. No doubt, God has great capacity for emotion, however, His emotion is based on the 'big picture' - not just an isolated situation with its temporal emotion.
Unfortunately, God's social justice methods have been demonized over the years because man's inefficiency in implementing God's system yielded "the baby being thrown out with the bathwater." The cliché is regrettable, but appropriate.
As predicted, man's knowledge has grown, but his social justice has digressed. The point made here is proof positive that time as we know it is nearing its culmination. Those who adhere to God and His pure Word can embrace their present standing in the world (outdated, ignorant, narrow-minded, and the likes) in peaceful confirmation of all that they believe to be true. The social injustice created by the world's social justice systems will, eternally speaking, be short-lived. The Bible offers no indication that this moral imbalance will improve, but that it serves as a comforting sign (to those of faith) of Jesus' impending return.
Father, man's social justice is a mockery to Yours. Help me to be and remain steadfast in trusting You and Your Word in contrast to the failed un-improving systems and knowledge of man.
