“For this is what the LORD says: All of Egypt’s allies will fall, and the pride of her power will end. From Migdol to Aswan they will be slaughtered by the sword, says the Sovereign LORD. [Ezekiel 30.6]
Rather than going into all the history behind this verse, I want to focus on one particularly telling statement found within it: "the pride of her power will end."
If we look at this verse in a 'generic' manner, we might ascertain that God is not too keen on a nation that becomes "proud in its power."
Very quickly, the implications of this verse should be frightening to, oh, let's say, the top 3-5 rated nations of the world in terms of military might. God never has had much use for any nation that becomes arrogant and proud in their strength and influence over other nations.
If history repeats itself, and God's character and opinion towards pride and arrogance remain unchanged, then the current inhabitants of earth could see some remarkable events unfold.
Father, may I be found humble and repentant before You. If I have any influence with people at all, may it be to encourage humility and repentance.
