The wicked conceive evil; they are pregnant with trouble and give birth to lies. They dig a deep pit to trap others, then fall into it themselves. The trouble they make for others backfires on them. The violence they plan falls on their own heads. [Psalm 7.14-16]
As believers - anointed ones of God - we can trust God's Word in our tribulations. The passage above makes it very clear exactly what it is we can count on.
Mind you however, the passage above has nothing to do with un-regenerated people - people who, although they may go to church, have no relationship with God whatsoever.
The confidence it takes to believe this passage from Psalm 7 is one and the same confidence Jesus exuded in Luke 4 when He quoted Isaiah:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.” [Luke 4.18-19]
We must trust the anointing because it is God's doing and it is good.
Father, help me to trust and walk in Your anointing.
