“A wise man wouldn’t answer with such empty talk! You are nothing but a windbag. [Job 15.2]
Says Eliphaz.
Won’t you ever stop blowing hot air? What makes you keep on talking? [Job 16.3]
Says Job.
“How long before you stop talking? Speak sense if you want us to answer! [Job 18.2]
Says Bildad.
Okay, there is definitely a 'theme' if you will that begins each participants' rebuke in this story - stop talking!
I know a lot of people believe a lot of things about the story of Job. But this recurring mention of "saying too much" is far too obvious to ignore. The interesting thing is this, Job will eventually repent to God for running his mouth.
It seems each participant in the argument to this point has failed thus far to heed his own advice, "Just shut up already!"
I wonder what the lesson of this story could be so far???
Ha.
Father, help me to be quicker to listen than to speak.
