Sad Truth - Some Will Turn Away

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. [1 Timothy 4.1]

It is a sad truth that believers will turn away from the Truth.

To turn away from something means that one was first turned to something. In other words, one cannot turn away from something they have not first turned to.

There will be, and have already been, many who have at first believed the Message of Jesus Christ and perhaps even become pillars of faith who, in time, will turn away.

I can presently think of nothing more disturbing than this fact.

I do not want to be a person who "turns away."

Can this "turning away" be prevented? Yes, I believe it can be prevented. I believe a person can stay mindful of seeking God's Kingdom FIRST and remain true to their faith in Christ.

It would seem that "turning away" becomes possible when one "loosens their grip." It may seem like a simple lapse of Bible reading and prayer at first, but any foothold the enemy can find, he will take. A simple lapse in Bible reading and prayer is just the opportunity the enemy needs to inject wrong ideas into our minds. And then, what was a simple lazy moment becomes a life derailed.

Father, help me to stay focused on You and Your Kingdom. Help me never become lazy again in my time with You.
