So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. [2 Thessalonians 1.11-12]
This passage from 2 Thessalonians stood out to me today because of the first part of it, "...we keep on praying for you..."
This phrase is of no consequence to someone who is not continuing to pray for anyone. But to anyone who is of the habit and commitment to continually pray for others, it gives insight into how that might be done.
The first thing this 'ongoing prayer' indicates it does is to ask God to enable those prayed for to live a life worthy of God's call. In a similar thread the next request is that God would give the power to accomplish all the good things that faith prompts.
And that's it. That is how we should pray for other believers if we know of no other need in their lives.
Father, help me to be accurate in my obedience to pray for others. Let it be that my continual prayer for others is as right-on and therefore powerful as possible.
