What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. [Isaiah 5.20]
God is good and only does good. It is not possible that God should do bad. Nor is it possible that God's enemy(s) should do good.
Good is known by its fruit. Evil is known by its fruit.
A bitter situation is not good. It is not "sweet."
No matter how much people try to call evil good or good evil, it is futile.
The occurrence of good being called evil and evil being called good is a common one today.
Of course we see evil being called good more that ever. People are doing things strictly forbidden by the Bible and calling it good. In the name of 'individuality' humanity has not only allowed this individuality to exist, but also embraced and encouraged it. It started out innocent enough - everyone is unique, right? But the end result is perversion and destruction. The end result is not good regardless of what it is being called.
But let's discuss the other side of evil being called good. In many religious circles (too many, I would say), well-meaning people have called evil good in saying sickness, disease, and lack are blessings from God. Nothing is further from Biblical truth. One only has to read Deuteronomy 28 to clearly distinguish between that which is good (blessing) and that which is evil (curse).
Whether we ever 'get healed' or not, any less-than-healthy physical condition should never be seen as a blessing from God and called good. If God did not allow a priest with a missing testicle into His Tabernacle/Temple, then He is sure to allow no such defect in heaven! If there is no such defect in heaven, then the responsibility to bring the standard of heaven to earth rests upon those who seek God. This is known and seen clearly in Jesus' instruction how to pray: May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Good is only good. Evil is only evil. Under no circumstance are we to think or spiritual-ize otherwise! It is perversion to do so. God never meant for His Word to be misunderstood. If something is good, call it good. If something is evil, call it evil.
The Church (as it should) mostly looks upon the LGBT Movement as appalling. But, was it not the Church who first started the cycle of calling evil good when the Church began to teach that sickness and lack could be blessings from God and, therefore, good? For this reason, the Church should repent!
It seems everything comes back to the need for repentance.
Father, forgive me, even if only in my deepest and most secret place of belief, for doubting Your Word that good is only good and evil is only evil. I know, just as Satan deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden with half-truths, that I too have allowed seeds of doubt about Your goodness to dictate my trust in You and Your goodness. Please forgive me for ever believing that curses on my life are anything but indicators of my need to repent and obediently trust You only for blessings. Help me to get to the point that my life demonstrates that good is good ...like Jesus did. Let the same power that Jesus walked in be the power that I walk in - the unmatched power of Your Holy Spirit!
