The enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard that the exiles were rebuilding a Temple to the LORD, the God of Israel. So they approached Zerubbabel and the other leaders and said, “Let us build with you, for we worship your God just as you do. We have sacrificed to him ever since King Esarhaddon of Assyria brought us here.” [Ezra 4.1-2]
Yeah, well... It is no surprise that the first opposition Israel experienced was in the form of deception.
Any time anything is attempted for God, perhaps then we should be on keen alert for similar deception.
The enemy of God will stop at no means and stoop to incredible levels to kill, steal, and destroy. He cannot help himself but to deceive.
Father, help us to recognize the infiltration of the enemy and resist his efforts with the truth of Your Word!
