Why, God?

Why then does my suffering continue? Why is my wound so incurable? Your help seems as uncertain as a seasonal brook, like a spring that has gone dry.” This is how the LORD responds: “If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me. If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be my spokesman. You must influence them; do not let them influence you! [Jeremiah 15.18-19]

Here is a profound question and answer session regarding suffering.

Jeremiah asks the question, "Why?"

Jeremiah was walking with God, right? Right?

Well, perhaps we should think again (Jeremiah had to).

God's answer was consistent with what He has been showing me for months and months now: 'Bad things' are indicators of the need to repent in our lives - whether we see it or not.

In answer to Jeremiah's question why, God answered that Jeremiah needed to "return" to Him - in other words ...REPENT! Evidently, Jeremiah said some worthless words in his otherwise accurate prophecies to God's people. Jeremiah's worthless words carried no influence - but God had told Jeremiah to influence His people.

It was that simple.

Father, help me to be quick to repent! You know my suffering and I know it is because of sin in my life - whether sin of commission, or sin of faithlessness. Forgive me to pride and arrogance - forgive me for making an idol of myself. I trust You as my God - my everything.
