This is what the LORD says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD. [Jeremiah 17.5]
The indictment here is undeniable. The indictment here upon me is undeniable.
I think every one of us needs to carefully review what we are doing - what we are believing - what we are acting upon - and see if it is in faith or not.
The thing is, as soon as we consider such a review of our lives, we immediately say things like, "Well, God uses doctors and medicine" or, "God gave us science and technology..." or, "God does not expect us to live without insurance..." or, "I have to work long hard hours [instead of spending quality time upon the God's Kingdom and family] to make it..." or, etc. etc. etc. In other words, as soon as we first consider the words of such a passage as Jeremiah 17.5 we immediately begin to defend our actions otherwise.
Is anything wrong with this picture? Where is our trust?
Just everything.
Father, please forgive me for being so faithless. I have called my faithlessness a lot of things to mask it, but I know it is fully exposed to You because You know my heart.
