This is what the LORD says: “Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the LORD who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the LORD, have spoken! [Jeremiah 9.23-24]
What is it to know God?
Knowing God is to understand His unfailing love.
Knowing God is to understand His justice and righteousness toward the earth.
Knowing God is to understand that He delights in love and justice and righteous.
God's love is demonstrated throughout the Bible. He loves mankind and desires fellowship.
God's justice and righteousness are also demonstrated throughout the Bible. His love for mankind would not be as profound without this foundation of justice and righteousness. It is because of God's justice and righteous that He can love so purely and perfectly. Nothing so perfectly portrays this as John 3.16:
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [John 3.16]
Father, these words today in Jeremiah give me much to ponder and meditate on. I want to know all I can possibly know about You - so that I might truly know You!
