Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes. [Psalm 60.11-12]
It seems insufficient to flippantly think these words only apply to David and Israel.
There is much to be learned about the character of God in this passage. And, God's character is consistent with all His family - not just David and Israel. David and Israel were in fact the 'poster children' of God's blessing, but as such, were indeed a revelation of God's character in general toward those with whom He is pleased.
"What pleases God" one might ask? God is pleased with faith. As a matter of Biblical fact, nothing but faith pleases God.
When God is pleased, blessings abound. Blessings don't come from man - blessings come from God. Man is no help, but God is. Oh sure, God may use man as He has done over and again, but all "help" originates from God. A man may claim to be the origin of help, but he is sorely mistaken. It is God alone Who helps man - and His help is victorious in every way.
Yes, we may do mighty things - but only with God's help. Human help is useless (regardless how it may appear). God's help is eternal. God's help is undeniable. God's help is un-claimable by any human. With God's help, we will do mighty things...
Father, forgive me for giving undue credit to humans and humanity. Every good and perfect gift comes from You. You choose to use whatever tools You please, but the gift - the help - is from You.
