At that time the LORD sent me a message. He said, “Your cousin Hanamel son of Shallum will come and say to you, ‘Buy my field at Anathoth. By law you have the right to buy it before it is offered to anyone else.’” Then, just as the LORD had said he would, my cousin Hanamel came and visited me in the prison. He said, “Please buy my field at Anathoth in the land of Benjamin. By law you have the right to buy it before it is offered to anyone else, so buy it for yourself.” Then I knew that the message I had heard was from the LORD. [Jeremiah 32.6-8]
If only we will allow God to do so, He will confirm what He is speaking to us personally as He did in the story above to Jeremiah.
Today, more than ever, people struggle to know if God has or is speaking to them. But we have a perfect opportunity, with each instance, to patiently wait for God to confirm what He tells us as He did for Jeremiah.
It is at this point in our Christian walk when it really becomes exciting. It is one thing to feel like God is giving us direction. It is quite another thing altogether when "confirmations" occur! A confirmation like this is a good thing - it is a God thing.
Father, help us to yield our lives to You in such a way that we allow You to speak to us and then confirm what You speak to us. Then, most importantly, help us to act on what You say.
