National Day of Prayer

1 Chronicles 26-28

On today, May 4th, 2017 (the first Thursday in May), the United States of America observes the National Day of Prayer. How appropriate is it that in today's One Year Chronological Bible there are lists of names - leaders - documented.

While it was important for Israel to document their leaders, I cannot help but believe it was also important to have lists of these leaders for prayer.

If my calling on earth is for no other purpose but to encourage others to pray over lists of people - family, leaders, churches, etc. - then my calling is an important one and, I believe, validated by the lists provided in the Bible.

Father, help us all to take seriously the fact that so many lists of people are recorded in the Bible. Help us to understand that individual names and roles have significance! Help us to utilize lists in our own lives for the high calling and duty of prayer.
