How God's Kingdom Works - Transfer Of Resources

Then David praised the LORD in the presence of the whole assembly: “O LORD, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever! Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. [1 Chronicles 29.10-11]

David speaks in his prayer of God's Kingdom. He said greatness, power, glory, victory and majesty belong to God. He went on the say that everything in the heavens and on earth is God's.

Here is a thought. If everything in the heavens AND on earth belongs to God, why did Jesus teach us in Matthew 6 to pray for God's will on earth as it is in heaven? Why didn't Jesus just teach us to simply pray for God's will?

Everything indeed belongs to God.

Here is another thought. I have a bank account and I have a house. Both belong to me. However, my house needs a fence. My bank account has the money to purchase a fence. So, for this needed fence to be added to my house, a transaction must take place: as the money is in the bank, so it needs to be transformed into a fence at my house.

See, God has stuff on earth. But the stuff on earth has needs. Those needs are met only from the storehouse of heaven. People are on earth and people belong to God. People have needs. Jesus knew people had needs (His life and ministry addressed those needs physical and spiritual). Jesus also knew that the solution to every earthly problem is in heaven. Every need, physical and spiritual, that people have has the potential of being met by the abundance of God's possessions in heaven.

This is exactly why Jesus did not teach us to pray for God's will on earth as it is on earth! One cannot improve the earth by the earth. No, the earth must be improved by heaven!

Yes, it is all God's Kingdom - and that is precisely why we have the authority to declare God's will on earth just as it is in heaven: we are authorized by Jesus to make improvements! Our resources to do so are in heaven (because earth lacks the resources). The resources of heaven are God's resources. God's resources are those things that belong to Him: salvation, blessing, honor, glory, power, wisdom, strength, riches, and thanksgiving. AND, here in David's prayer, we see that we can add greatness, victory, and majesty to that list. All together, that's a pretty good list of resources! AND, with those resources, we, as God's representatives on earth, have no small task before us because everywhere we look we can see a situation in need of salvation, blessing, honor, glory, power, wisdom, strength, riches, thanksgiving, greatness, victory, or majesty.

That's how God's Kingdom works. That's how we work for God's Kingdom! It's a transfer of resources. Jesus showed us how - He spent three years doing so. He was never unclear about our work being Kingdom work.

Our work is no part-time job either. Jesus taught us to seek first the Kingdom of God. This Kingdom work is and should be our primary occupation.

Father, help us to comprehend and work for Your Kingdom as Jesus taught us...
