In the Morning...

Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. [Psalm 5.3]

O know I have written about this verse before, but it is standing out to me again today.

It is in the morning when God usually speaks to me. It is in the morning when I usually best speak to Him. It is in the morning when my hope is built - my expectations are formed - forged in the quietness of my devotion - formed in the realizations of what the Bible says and means.

It is in the morning when, regardless of whether I have slept well and enough or slept poorly and not enough, that my Father speaks to me and causes me to hope.

It is in the morning that I lay my requests before Him. It is in the morning when I call out the names of people I cannot help on my own, but that my God can!

It is in the morning when He reveals to me things I would not know otherwise. It is in the morning He gives me direction and guides my steps.

It is in the morning that I learn to pray more effectively.

It is in the morning that great expectations are built because I know my Father hears me and I know He is teaching me to pray in His power and not my own.

It is in the morning, when I call the names of those I have committed to pray for, that I realize the love of God for each one of them, whether I know them personally or not.

Why would I ever start a day without praying?

Father, these thoughts make me appreciate even more what You are doing in my life. Thank You.
