Priesthood

1 Chronicles 23-25

Today's OYCB reading deals with the duties of the various arms of the priesthood. There were the Levites, the Aaronic priests, and the musicians. All were in priestly service to God.

As I consider these various branches of priesthood, I realize, as they translate into New Testament life, how diverse my own appointment as a priest in the Kingdom of God is.

The Levitical priesthood is about service.

The Aaronic priesthood is about prayer.

The musicians are about music.

I don't think for us, as New Testament believers, there is a distinction whether we are one or the other - I believe we are compelled by God's Spirit to participate in all. Obviously, some will excel in some area(s) more than  others. However, the point is to participate!

Father, help me to not only focus on one area of priesthood. Help me to strive to be well-rounded in my service to You (and therefore to mankind).
