Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice. [Proverbs 31.8-9]
If the Kingdom of God is indeed about people (and I believe the Bible gives more than enough evidence to prove that it is), then the words of Scripture above are the marching orders of the Kingdom. Specifically, this passage indicates what should be the substance of our prayers.
People, including myself, pray for a lot of things. But when we are praying for others according to the instruction found in Proverbs 31.8-9, we cannot go wrong.
Now, there is also the burden of putting feet to our faith. Prayer is indeed our first 'obedience' to God, but it must be proven by our lives. Yes, if we are genuinely praying for something, it will show in our actions.
Father, thank You for revealing this truth today. Help me remain mindful that the Kingdom is about people.
