This is what the Lord says—Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies: “I am the First and the Last; there is no other God. Who is like me? Let him step forward and prove to you his power. Let him do as I have done since ancient times when I established a people and explained its future. Do not tremble; do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim my purposes for you long ago? You are my witnesses—is there any other God? No! There is no other Rock—not one!” [Isaiah 44.6-8]
In all of today's OYCB reading, there is much said about idol worship and its futility. In contrast, Isaiah records God to make the statement above and ask the question, "Is there any other God?"
Simply looking at history, there has been nothing more influential on entire societies and nations than God. Specifically, Yahweh of the Bible.
As much as people would like to reason that there is no God, there is just too much evidence otherwise. Even in the subtlety of a changed human heart, there is overwhelming evidence of countless individuals who have experienced this very thing. What other power on earth has had such widespread effect on people?
And then there is the fact of fulfilled prophecy.
Father, I am glad You have given me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to understand that You alone are God! Thank You.
