You have wearied the Lord with your words. “How have we wearied him?” you ask. You have wearied him by saying that all who do evil are good in the Lord’s sight, and he is pleased with them. You have wearied him by asking, “Where is the God of justice?” [Malachi 2.17]
More than anything lately, I see the nation in which I live doing this very thing - calling evil good.
Crops were a big deal in the time the prophets Malachi and Joel lived (today's reading). And, it was these crops that were in jeopardy due to the people's sin. Joel speaks of locusts destroying everything... This was God's judgment and therefore His doing - the people's livelihood and sustenance were snatched away.
If in Malachi's and Joel's day, calling evil good was at high levels, it must be 'red line' today! What could be in jeopardy with us?
Father, I want to be obedient to You. I want to be part of the solution and not the problem. Help me to do my part to repent of godlessness and certainly to repent of calling anything evil good...
