Worth Thinking About

But here at this table, sitting among us as a friend, is the man who will betray me. [Luke 22.21]

If Jesus suffered at the hand of a trusted friend, what makes us think we deserve better?

Many times we are so easily offended by the least little offence of those around us - and yet, few of us have been or ever will be betrayed unto death.  But still we believe we are entitled to faithfulness by all.

It is worth thinking about.

Father, I know Jesus was an example to us all.  It is easy for me to wish to follow His example when it comes to overthrowing the money-changers in the Temple, but not so easy when it comes to taking up my own cross and following Him...  I have much to learn... or maybe better said, to give up.
