The World Doesn't Get It

If you love me, obey my commandments.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.  He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.  The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him.  But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. [John 14.15-17]

Jesus did not differentiate between Himself and the Holy Spirit.  Jesus declared Himself the Way, Truth, and life and also declared that the Holy Spirit also leads into all Truth.

Jesus also declared that the world cannot receive the Holy Spirit due to the fact that the world is not looking for Him and therefore does not recognize Him!  If we would just take a moment to ponder this statement, it really does give us some guidance for dealing with the world as Jesus dealt with the world.  Jesus knew the world could not understand Him because the world was not looking for Him.  It comes down to a matter of the will of the heart.

When considering the matter of Creation and the polarization between Science and the Bible on the topic, it is very easy to see exactly what Jesus said about the world not receiving Truth (the Holy Spirit).  If a person is not looking for Jesus, then that person will not find Jesus and certainly will not comprehend the world through the story of the Bible.  In fact, seekers and non-seekers will forever understand everything in opposing views.

People who do no want God will not find God.  In fact, they are prevented from finding Him.  Only however, when God initiates reaching out to a person can that person even begin to seek Him.  God is not some idea a person can set on the shelf or take off the shelf at will.  God approaches man and man must choose to either believe or not believe.  God's invitation, therefore, must not be taken lightly because no man knows if perhaps that invitation will never be extended again.  That invitation is the Holy Spirit speaking to the human heart in a way only that heart can know and understand - and when that invitation is extended to us to believe, the timing is right to do so!

Father, give us the grace to receive Truth when it comes to us!  Likewise, give us the grace to present Truth as He lives in us!
