Know God - Make Him Known

And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. [John 17.3]

In a nutshell, to be saved, one must know God, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one He has sent to earth.

I love seeking God.  I love the revelation that comes from reading God's story.  I love the challenge of trying understand God's story.  I love the fact that every day I can count on something challenging me spiritually-whether it causes me to question my faith, or causes my faith to soar, every day is different.  And even though I have had serious questions about this Way, I see no alternative whatsoever.  Even if it were to turn out that God is not real and the Bible is the biggest sham in all of history, my life is changed and better for having sought God and having tried to understand the Bible.

I am acutely aware of my reality today as I attended my grandfather's funeral yesterday.  He was a man who believed the Bible.  He was a man who encouraged people to know God and make God known.  He was a man respected and loved by many.  He was not a perfect man, but if I learned anything from him at all, it was to keep seeking God.  I think that is as near perfect as any human being can ever be!

I am so thankful that I was born to be who I am.  I am so thankful to have true believers before me in my lineage.  I sense today an undeniable responsibility not only to know God myself, but also to make Him known.

Father, help me to know You more.  Help me to make You known!
