Where Is Our Faith?

I wondered today what would have happened if all the twelve men Moses sent out to spy out Canaan had had true warrior mentalities? Regardless, only Caleb was ready to rumble - he wanted to go take the land at once!

Going by good standards of discernment, one would have to conclude that Caleb was 'out of line.' Generally, there is wisdom in the counsel of many. But Caleb was not wrong. It was the others who were fearful and faithless and therefore displeasing to God.

How do we reconcile this today? How do we ever emphatically tell the over-zealous 'lone ranger' that he is wrong? How do we discourage one who's faith is greater than ours (even though his quest seems doomed from the beginning)?

Where is our faith?

Father, I am reminded today that faith is neither easy nor popular. Give me - give us - grace to go against the flow - grace to believe - grace to receive Your will in our lives!
