Psalm 103
This chapter, perhaps more vividly than any other place in the Bible, describes God and His character.
Here are a few of the characterizations I find:
- He does good things for me.
- He forgives all my sins.
- He heals all my diseases.
- He redeems me from death.
- He crowns me with love and tender mercies.
- He fill my life with good things.
- He renews my youth like the eagle's.
- He gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.
- He revealed His character to Moses and Israel.
- He is compassionate and merciful.
- He is slow to get angry,
- He is filled with unfailing love.
- He will not constantly accuse us.
- He will not remain angry forever.
- He does not punish us for all our sins.
- He does not deal harshly with us (as we deserve).
- His love is unfailing toward those who fear Him (high as the heavens above the earth).
- He has removed our sins from us (as far as the east is from the west).
- He is like a father to his children (tender and compassionate to those who fear Him).
- He knows how weak we are (He remembers we are only dust).
- His love remains forever with those who fear Him.
- His salvation reaches future generations of the faithful.
- He rules from heaven (where He rules over everything).
Father, You are good. Your faithful love endures forever! Help me to meditate on these characterizations of You today and every day.
