This is Solomon’s song of songs, more wonderful than any other. [Song of Solomon 1.1]
How this book made it into the Bible is beyond me. It doesn't mention God and, if it does point to Jesus in any way, the sexual references in it are a huge distraction.
Here's a thought though... What if Song of Solomon is a litmus test for the spiritual condition of the reader? What if Song of Solomon reveals whether a person is distracted by sexual thoughts or focused on God? If that's the case, the former applies to me and not the latter as I read it today.
Is it just me?
Perhaps I should revert to what I wrote on this day in 2024: It's In The Bible. Clearly, my response to this book is unsettled in my heart...
Father, I really want to understand how the Song of Solomon fits into the life of a person in pursuit of You. May the condition of my heart be exposed so that Your Spirit might purify and occupy it! So be it!
