Sincerity

When people tried to bow before him, Absalom wouldn’t let them. Instead, he took them by the hand and kissed them. Absalom did this with everyone who came to the king for judgment, and so he stole the hearts of all the people of Israel. [2 Samuel 15.5-6]

I am certain that Absalom seemed sincere.

Sincerity however does not guarantee truth and righteousness. One can be sincerely wrong!

We live in a world that sincerity is given as much credit as righteousness. If a person is sincere in their quest, then they must be right, right? Wrong.

Sincerity is tied to emotion. Righteousness is tied to God's Word.

Father, help me to be found righteous. I know this is impossible apart from Jesus, so may I be found in the righteousness of faith as Your Word (Jesus) teaches. May sincerity never get in the way!
