A Lesson About Pride

“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.” [Daniel 4.37]

The story leading up to this profession by Nebuchadnezzar is terrifying. Unless one had experienced what Nebuchadnezzar experienced, it is hard to believe they could understand the significance of what he said above.

Suffice it to say here however, that Nebuchadnezzar literally fell from being the ruler of Babylon to living outdoors eating grass like a cow. His pride stripped him of everything he held dear.

Oh, the irony of it all. Pride, that makes us think ourselves higher than others is the very vehicle that transports us lower than everyone.

Father, I have been proud in my life. Please forgive me this wrong. You alone rule over and control everything. Your rule is everlasting, and Your kingdom is eternal.

All the people of the earth are nothing compared to You. You do as You please among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop You or say to You, ‘What do you mean by doing these things?’
