The poor, deluded fool feeds on ashes. He trusts something that can’t help him at all. Yet he cannot bring himself to ask, “Is this idol that I’m holding in my hand a lie?” [Isaiah 44.20]
Trusting in something that can't help us is a real problem, isn't it?
Because I have been so dogmatic heretofore regarding idolatry, I am going to "dial it back a notch" and simply say today that we should all take inventory of the things we trust in and honestly evaluate our faith.
Is what I am trusting in a lie?
Father, may I be found trusting in You alone. Forgive me for mindlessly trusting other things instead of You.
