Get With God

When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” [1 Kings 19.13]

Elijah must have been perceived as a real force to be reckoned with.

When Obadiah met Elijah on the road, he said, "Is that really you?" Then when Elijah met King Ahab, the same words came from him.

Elijah was known to walk in an anointing of great power.

But when Jezebel made here threat to Elijah, he became fearful. Doesn't that seem just a bit strange? Jezebel was only one person and Elijah had already killed 450 of her prophets of Baal. Why such fear of her? It would be only speculation to answer this question. However, if Elijah's story tells us anything, it tells us that any person, even Elijah, can have a weak moment.

Anyone can have a weak moment. And, there is only one solution, as we saw with Elijah: get to the mountain of the LORD. Remember Him and be refreshed and rejuvenated to His calling and will.

It really is that simple - but few today take the time to do it. We need to get with God.

Father, help us to retreat to a place of solitude with You when we come into fear...
