Worthy Of Consideration

In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa developed a serious foot disease. Yet even with the severity of his disease, he did not seek the LORD’s help but turned only to his physicians. [2 Chronicles 16.12]

The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father’s early years and did not worship the images of Baal. [2 Chronicles 17.3]

If we will see it, here is a telling revelation about what idolatry looked like for Asa. The correlation between 2 Chronicles 16.12 and 2 Chronicles 17.3 is worthy of our consideration.

We are told Asa's latter years were years of idolatry in his life. In those years Asa did not seek God's help. Instead, Asa did seek the help of physicians. See the connection?

Maybe I am making too much of this, ...but maybe I am not!

Anything humans put their trust in besides God is an idol. Period.

Father, help us to examine our lives and what we trust in! Help us to rid ourselves of idols as the good kings of the Old Testament did so that our trust might be, and be seen, entirely in You!
