Have Faith In God

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. [Psalm 19.14]

Generically speaking, we should all desire that our words and thoughts please God. However, because we have other Scripture that clarifies "pleasing God," we can be much more specific how that happens!

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. [Hebrews 11.6]

If our words and thoughts are to please God, they must be words and thoughts of faith.

All our talk and thoughts that are not faith, in might be concluded, do not please God.

But can we talk and think thoughts that don't actively please God but still don't displease God?

The fact that we would even ask the question above is indication that something is awry! Notwithstanding, the answer to the question can be seen in what we are specifically instructed to do:

Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. [Mark 11.22]

The fact that Jesus demanded that we have faith in God should tell us clearly that, not to do so, is disobedience, and therefore, sin.

For all the "believers" in the world who shirk away from "faith" saying it is enough to believe in Jesus but will leave the "miracle stuff" to others, let it be said here that they are in great error, disobedience, and consequently, in grave danger.

There is no way to please God outside of faith. The responsibility rests upon each of us to control our thoughts and words to be thoughts and words of faith!

God has elected to not control our words and what we meditate on. He has left that up to us - it is called willful obedience. It is called freewill. We must consciously choose to please God. We must consciously choose to speak and meditate in faith.

To say to God, "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart please You," is to say I know Your will in this matter and I choose to align myself with it. It is the same as Jesus taught us all to pray...

May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. [Matthew 6.10]

For us to pray this way says we know God's will and we align ourselves with it! Heaven is the pattern we are to follow in everything!

Father, I want to align - to train - my words and meditations (thoughts) to be words and thoughts of faith so that I might please You!
