O LORD, I give my life to you. [Psalm 25.1]
Do I really?
What does that mean, to "give my life to You"?
If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. [Matthew 10.38]
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. [Matthew 16.24]
Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. [Mark 8.34]
Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. [Luke 9.23]
Jesus didn't really cut any slack for following Him.
The apostle Paul described it like this:
We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. [Romans 6.6]
For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. [1 Corinthians 2.2]
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. [Galatians 2.20]
I think "giving my life to God" will take the entirety of my life!
Father, may I be found totally submitted and given to You!
