“So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, so that as long as the sky remains above the earth, you and your children may flourish in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors. [Deuteronomy 11.18-21]
If Moses was indeed speaking for God, then it was God's Word Moses was proclaiming, right?
If Jesus is the Word of God Incarnate (and He is), then, this passage gives us an excellent standard by which to measure our devotion to Him.
Ouch?
As the Apostle Paul taught, we are to be in Christ, and Christ in us.
Jesus is the Word. According to this passage then, we are to make the Word, Jesus, a priority before our eyes, ears, children, home, everywhere...
Jesus, the Word, is to be the most important thing to our lives and from our lives.
That last sentence was good... Jesus is to be the most important thing to our lives and from our lives.
Father, help me, help us, to give Jesus, Your Word, our highest priority.
