Israel's Meaning In Jesus

For you are a holy people, who belong to the LORD your God. Of all the people on earth, the LORD your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure. [Deuteronomy 7.6]

As much as we are inclined to make this about Israel, the nation, I must point out that Jesus said the Scriptures all point to Him.

“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! [John 5.39]

Therefore, when we look at Israel, we should do so as Israel points to Jesus.

As Israel, the nation, pointed to Jesus, so Israel, the Church, is to point to Jesus. It IS all about Jesus.

Hosea said this:

At that time I will plant a crop of Israelites and raise them for myself. I will show love to those I called ‘Not loved.’ And to those I called ‘Not my people,’ I will say, ‘Now you are my people.’ And they will reply, ‘You are our God!’” [Hosea 2.23]

The Bible is simply NOT about Israel, but about Jesus. I'm sorry, but any other focus than Jesus is merely a distraction from Jesus! Notwithstanding, the Bible is not about me either. However, "IN CHRIST" things are drastically different!

There is much to consider any time we read or hear about Israel. Israel is indeed representative of God's chosen people. And, who are God's chosen people but those who, in God-pleasing faith, repent and believe in Jesus Christ. Abraham, the patriarch of Israel the nation, pleased God by faith - faith that God would do what He said - that God would redeem mankind from the curse of disobedience.

Man, this is good stuff!

Father, help me to remain focused on Jesus as He alone is the focal point of all Your Word - in fact, He IS Your WORD!
