Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle. [Exodus 40.34]
When?
"Then," when the people and Moses had done "just as the LORD commanded..."
There is a distinct and direct correlation between obedience to God and enjoying His Glory.
In the New Living Translation (I did not compare others), the phrase "just as the LORD commanded..." is used 8 times in Exodus chapter 40 alone - just before it says, "Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle."
As simple as God made the plan of Salvation for man, there remains the exercise (obedience) of believing. God's glory will not attend disobedience.
For the record, and since God's character does not change, it is worth understanding that God's glory will not attend disobedience before or after Salvation...
Could this explain why the Church today is so powerless? "Of course not!" says the proud religious theologian quoting countless astute and esteemed sources, but, "I will ask the LORD to reveal my sin!" says the meek and humble.
There is a REASON the Church today does not represent God in all His power (and [hint] it's not because God has changed).
Father, help us to humbly acknowledge that Your Glory visits only our obedience and that the absence of Your Glory should give us cause for great concern!
