Finally, they made the sacred medallion—the badge of holiness—of pure gold. They engraved it like a seal with these words: HOLY TO THE LORD. [Exodus 39.30]
The description of the Priest's clothing, including the precious stones representing the twelve tribes of Israel, speaks clearly of Jesus.
If Jesus were not HOLY TO THE LORD, then His death on the cross would have meant nothing. Who but Incarnate Holiness could redeem mankind?
The fact that Jesus went to the cross in a human body is foretold by the precious stones representing the twelve tribes. But here is an interesting point to ponder, the tribes' respective names were engraved on the stones on the Priest's garment... they were uniquely identified by name - the Priest did not represent those who names were not engraved on the stones! In other words, Redemption is not for everyone, except those whose names are known by the Lord. This is why believers today must be "in Christ" with their identity entirely in Him!
Wow, this is deep.
Father help me to see what it means to be "in Christ" today more than ever.
