If she has defiled herself by being unfaithful to her husband, the water that brings on the curse will cause bitter suffering. Her abdomen will swell and her womb will shrink, and her name will become a curse among her people. But if she has not defiled herself and is pure, then she will be unharmed and will still be able to have children. [Numbers 5.27-28]
When I read this, I think of a "potion" in a not-so-Biblical sense. However, it is written in the Word of God and I must accept it for what it is.
Now, the challenge is to see Jesus in this!
Here is a swing at that...
I am guessing the default result of the "potion" would be suffering. I base this on the fact that Jesus said all who do not believe are under a curse (John 3.18).
Likewise, the innocent, those who believe, are delivered from judgement.
Does this make any sense?
Father, help me to continue to seek Jesus and not get distracted with OT details that seem confusing otherwise!
