For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. [2 Timothy 1.9]
Before God set the rules for day and night - the marking of time - He planned to redeem man. That was His plan all along.
With this in mind, Satan's temptation of Eve and Adam was no surprise. Their disobedience was no surprise, Their treason was no surprise. Their guilt was no surprise. Their attempt to hide was no surprise.
This is a very "deep" when considering that God created man.
Did God create man to fail?
Maybe we should consider it like this: God created man to believe. This must necessarily be true because "without faith it is impossible to please God." The only way to believe is to have the contrast of "doubt."
God designed man, not to be a robot, but to have a choice. To believe God is a choice. "Relationship" is only as good as the freedom in which it exists. The more freedom, the more pure the relationship.
God provided the perfect circumstances for man to choose Him or reject Him - every man individually has this opportunity. It was, and is, a brilliant plan by God. Nothing pleases God more than when a man believes Him. And that is why faith is central to relationship with God.
Everything about God's plan to redeem mankind through the blood of His Son - His own blood - is about the freedom of man to choose...Again, the more freedom, the greater the purity of the relationship.
Father, help me to consider the freedom You provided mankind to make choices. Help me, with my every choice, to trust, and therefore to please You!
