And now, dear brothers and sisters, we give you this command in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Stay away from all believers who live idle lives and don’t follow the tradition they received from us. [2 Thessalonians 3.6]
No doubt, times were different when Paul wrote this. However, the problem of idle believers remains real today.
While it may be true that few, if any, in all Christendom today live a life following Paul's example, it is certainly obvious that among believers today, there are those who are at least somewhat engaged and those who do nothing more than go to church.
Churches today are full of idle Christians. One should question whether an idle believer is a believer at all!
Father, may we be found busy about kingdom work and not idle!
