Take Precautions! Come Back To God!

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. [Proverbs 22.3]

Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Liberal, or Moderate matters not one bit without prudence.

Whether one believes guns inspire murder or guns deter murder matters not one bit without prudence.

The United States is highly divided as I write this. So divided is this country that a complete failure of the American Way appears imminent.

There are two prevailing "camps" arguing over their respective facts, both becoming increasingly more inflamed, vocal and desperate to preserve their ideals - both convinced the other is the problem.

However, there is a third group watching these events unfold - a group whose allegiance is to Almighty God alone and whose faith prevails regardless what "version" of "American freedom" claims or attains to superiority (if any version of American Freedom prevails).

These prudent followers of God understand that current events were predicted and documented long before America was even discovered. "The prudent" recognize that society is bound to the prophecies of the Bible (the only "religious" reference with such indisputable accuracy). The prudent embrace the Bible's explanation that current events are simply the fulfillment of God's plan to usher in the return of His Son and the establishment of His eternal Kingdom. The prudent are not concerned over the interpretation of common laws of man, but instead concern themselves with the absolute Truth of God.

The prudent understand that neither (or any other) "side" can escape God's plan:

No human wisdom or understanding or plan can stand against the LORD. The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD. [Proverbs 21.30-31]

The prudent compassionately see the polarization of people as the work of an unseen enemy whose only goal is to completely destroy everyone involved! And, for this reason, the prudent are diligent to incite Almighty God and wield His power (the power of love demonstrated by Christ) in the task of reconciling all humanity unto a life of faith and trust in Him through the sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

The prudent genuinely believe and act upon the following:

We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. [2 Corinthians 10.3-5]

The prudent are focused on the real issue at hand: reconciling people unto their Creator:

So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. [2 Corinthians 5.16-21]

The message of the prudent then is not, "Get guns!" or "Get rid of guns!" but instead, "Come back to God!"

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. [Proverbs 22.3]

Simpletons argue (passionately and mindlessly all at the same time) over that which has no eternal value. Neither side wins in this scenario. The prudent see this pitfall and avoid it.

Father in heaven, may we be found acting in prudence - reconciling people to You!
