Then the king instructed Zadok to take the Ark of God back into the city. “If the LORD sees fit,” David said, “he will bring me back to see the Ark and the Tabernacle again. But if he is through with me, then let him do what seems best to him.” [2 Samuel 15.25-26]
If only we could approach God's calling and purpose for our lives in this way.
Seriously, we spend so much time and energy in preservation of ourselves and our own interests that we rarely rest in God the way He requires of us. And, consequently, in so doing, we render ourselves useless to the purpose He has for us.
What does it really look like to throw ourselves upon God and God alone? Does David's story offer an example?
As would be expected at this time of my life and journey (as chronicled here), it comes down to whether I believe God will do what seems best to Him, OR that I need to do what human reasoning says is best for me.
In fact, my human reasoning is screaming for action while God's Word (in the passage above and elsewhere) is telling me God will provide and heal.
May I be found resigned to God's plan entirely - even if it appears I am doing nothing for myself. Somehow, I must get past "myself." It's not about me.
Father in heaven, do what seems best to You with my life and circumstances...
