You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed. [2 Corinthians 11.4]
For all the excuses the Church has today for not looking and acting like Jesus... For all the excuses the Church has today for not experiencing and demonstrating the Holy Spirit like the Day of Pentecost... For all the excuses the Church has today for not prioritizing God's Kingdom above all else...
The problem we see today in the Church is nothing new. A different Jesus, a different Holy Spirit, and a different Gospel are witnessed in the Church far too much today as had begun in Paul's time.
Why is it that we read the Bible and then justify our "different" actions? Do we really think God will accept our excuses of culture, time, occupation, family, or whatever else?
There is NO excuse for the Church today not looking like Jesus and experiencing and demonstrating the Holy Spirit like we read in the New Testament. No excuse.
Am I saying we have to change everything? If that is what it takes, then that is what it takes. If we are living for a "different" Jesus or through a "different" Holy Spirit (unidentifiable by the Bible), then we are deceived and need to get back to the Truth. Period.
Father forgive us for allowing ourselves to believe our different versions of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Help us to return to genuineness.
