They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too. [Romans 1.32]
The human condition is just this bad. Man knows by the Spirit of God (Who alone brings conviction of sin) that what he is doing is wrong - and yet, he does it anyway. And, if that weren't bad enough, he encourages others to do likewise.
I believe too many times we are quick to say, "I'm just human," as an excuse for repeated sinfulness in our lives. The problem with this is that there is no shortage of those who will agree. This agreement then, that condones sin, becomes some sort of twisted "encouragement" that prevents masses of people from repenting of their sins and turning to God in saving faith.
Tolerance of sin is the worst pandemic on earth.
Repentance has become unpopular, intolerant, and outdated. Consequently, the message of repentance has been all but silenced in the Church (particularly so in the USA). The problem with this is that without repentance, there is no forgiveness.
Let me be clear that God's forgiveness stands regardless of whether a person repents or not. However, the unrepentant soul will never experience God's forgiveness. Jesus died for the world, but He will not force anyone into saving faith.
Sin is not okay.
Father, help us all to get serious about sin in our lives.
