True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful? Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him, “You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.” [Romans 3.3-4]
In my prayer time before writing this today, not consciously thinking about what I would read, I prayed, "Father, You are faithful even when we are not..."
And then, when I read this portion of Romans today, I felt strongly that what I prayed and what I read must be the Lord addressing something I need to be aware of today! He is faithful.
Admittedly, I had a 'bad night' overnight based on a couple of conversations I had the previous day. And then, upon rising from my sleep today, I found it a struggle to even see the point in my spiritual pursuit (I am just being honest here).
So, what I did was press on. I prayed anyway. I chose to believe my prayer for the people on my lists matters to them and to God regardless of how hopeless some of the situations might be. I prayed God's Word over the people and the situations. I realized that only the power of the Living God can change anyone and so I tried my best to align with that fact regardless of my present feelings.
One might expect now that I would testify of glorious results of this prayer time. But no, I am sitting here writing in silence - in total reliance upon the Holy Spirit to do anything in my life and the lives of those I pray for each day. This will have to be glory enough - glory to God Who I cannot see (or feel at the moment) but trust anyway - regardless of an overwhelming darkness that surrounds me presently.
I believe God is faithful - even when I am not. My troubles are nothing but my own doing. It is not God's fault that I would wander off into darkness. He remains the Light of the world - darkness in my life can only be the result of my not looking to Him.
Father, You are faithful even when I am not. Help me to remain true to You.
